Give today’s workout all you’ve got. Don’t stop. Don’t quit. Push your limit. Your body is strong enough.

The CrossFit Games kick off tomorrow!! Event 1 was announced last night…..

After several hours of orientations, photo shoots, and the swim test, athletes have gathered again at the Torrance Marriott for a reception, including individual, masters, and team competitors, as well as families and friends.

With more than 1,000 people here, the first event was announced for the team and individual competition. The first team workout is:

For time:
Move 15 sandbags (1,700 lbs.) 200 yards
There will be a 6-log obstacle at the 50-yard line and a 4-foot wall at the end. The sandbags must be moved from the start line, over the logs, and over the wall. Once all the sandbags are over the wall, they must be returned to their original position, passing over the wall and logs again.

This workout will begin at 8 a.m. Pacific time on Friday morning.

Then, the first individual workout was announced. To the shock of most everyone in the room, the athletes were informed that on Friday morning, they should arrive at the Home Depot Center at 5:15 a.m., so they can board buses for the Santa Monica beach. At 7 a.m. Pacific time, the men will do the first heat of the workout, which is:

For time:
210-meter ocean swim
Run 1,500m in soft-sand
50 Chest-to-bar pull-ups
100 hand release push-ups
200 Squats
Run 1,500m in soft-sand

This event will take place at 7 a.m., Friday, July 29 on the Santa Monica Beach at 1550 Pacific Coast Highway in Santa Monica, Calif. The women will follow the men, but start no later than 8 a.m. Spectators will be permitted. There are no tickets or fees (besides parking) required.

The athletes will be bused back to the Home Depot Center immediately after the women’s heat for the rest of the day’s events.

How’s that for a show starter?!!!

You can stream the events live here from your Google machine. We will be glued all weekend I’m sure….  As for gathering to enjoy the festivities:

Friday– We will assume a normal class schedule.

Saturday– The 9am WOD is being replaced by the 8am Monument Downhill 5K. Then we will open the gym from 4-8pm with a tentative schedule of:

4:30 pm: Fundraiser WOD for Brandon’s haircut. $5 Entry.

5:30 pm: Brandon’s fro is coming off.

6:30 pm: Potluck BBQ. Bring a dish or a drink (and a folding chair if you’d like).

We will be streaming the CrossFit Games the entire time (of course!!).

Friends and family welcome to any/all of the afternoon/evening.  The more the merrier!

The Games will continue through Sunday – by then you just might be hooked and we’ll have to rally again…. we’ll see!!!
