What is that?! The Bod Pod at CMU’s Human Performance Lab and our newest piece of the nutrition challenge.
The Bod Pod is useful in body composition analysis. You sit in it for 5-10 minutes and it determines your volume. The volume is then compared to your weight to calculate the density and percent fat/fat-free mass. Body fat percentage is a WAY better unit of measurement than weighing in on a scale and measuring with a tape.
The crew at the lab is giving all CrossFit Junction members a great deal to do this test before/after nutrition challenge. Please get in there this week if you can. The lab is open from 7:30am-4pm. There is a sign up sheet at the gym, please sign up for a time slot ahead of time so I can give them advance notice.
I believe this is a free service for CMU students, so get in there!! For all of you post-education athletes, the normal cost is $45/test. They are offering us $30/visit for before/after nutrition challenge ($60 total). Or you can buy four sessions for $100, which would make it only $25 visit. They do not take debit/credit cards, only cash or check.
For the test, ladies should wear compression (spandex-type) shorts and a compression top, fellas just the compression shorts. You don’t want a belly full of food or water. So stay hydrated but go in before you grub down.
I highly encourage everyone that is doing the nutrition challenge do this test!! You may start/end the challenge at the same weight but never see that you actually lost 10% of your body fat. If all participants in the challenge can get this done some time this week, it will be our 3rd scoring system for the challenge.
